Kid’s Smart Watch – Xplora

I recently bought a smart watch for my boy. I had been wanting one for quite a while but couldn’t decide on one in particular due to crummy reviews on ALL of them. SOOOO, I felt the need to give you my personal and honest review of the one I purchased b/c I genuinely, REALLY like it, I’m very happy I got it and hopefully it can help you narrow down your search as well (should you be in the market for a kid’s smart watch lol). I purchased the Xplora X5 Play from Amazon. We use T-Mobile and were able to seamlessly put it on our plan for use as a watch line with calls and SMS capabilities. Some of my favorite things about this watch is how easy it is to use. My boy is five and he was able to figure it out quickly. I am not in love with the OS just b/c to me it it is REALLY basic, but for a kid and for a parent who just doesn’t wanna take the time to learn anything really in depth, it’s perfect. It does all it NEEDS to do and a little more so honestly that’s all I can ask for. You can add up to 10 contacts that your kiddo can call/text and receive calls/texts from. It isn’t a lot and I would like to see adding a little more at some point. There is a camera which records videos and takes pictures. I’m always getting some silly video or selfie from my boy with a cute little flower emoji and an “I love you, you’re my best friend”. lol It’s cute. My son can call his grandparents, uncles, aunts, etc and honestly they love it. There is a school mode that you can turn on at any time or set schedules to do it automatically. You can also send music to the phone through a message and they can save it to the watch for their own little mp3 player. There is also GPS on the watch and you can check the location at any time. It updates very quickly. I have seen the address updating as the car drives away which is pretty awesome. It’s all controlled through the Xplora app and you can monitor it closely. It shows you the kids steps through the day, location, who they messaged, called, etc. Pretty AWESOME. It was decently affordable. I think I paid around $150 for it. There were several that I researched and were cheaper but didn’t seem to have the same durability, functionality factors. (side point, this one has a good waterproof/resistance rating). It comes in black/pink or black. Its a large watch face but my son is exceptionally tiny and it fits fine. All in all I really like it and I would highly recommend. It brings me a level of peace of mine when my son is gone at therapy, out with family, etc. On top of that, I LOVE seeing the silly pictures/videos he takes and getting the absolutely adorable messages he sends me. He gets to keep in touch with grandma who is out-of-state and I know that brings her heart so much joy. It’s great b/c he isn’t relying on me to have extra time to hand him my phone to call the family. He can call whenever he wants to tell them he loves them. That’s more of what the world needs right now 🙂 Hope this helps and I’ll attach a link to the exact one I purchased!
